Chai Spiced Oatmeal

"Every boy every girl...Spice up your life! People of the world...Spice up your life! Aaaaahh" LOL! That's what I think of when I eat this spicy oatmeal. Its so full of flavor you'll never grab those packets full of sugar and artificial blah blah blah again! The Spice Girls would be very happy with this combo of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves. Yummmm Mix in a banana and maple syrup and you've got yourself quite the tasty oatmeal.




Ingredients:

1 cup rolled oats

1 tbsp chia seeds

1 1/4 cup water

3/4 cup milk of choice

1 medium banana - half mashed and half sliced

2 tsp maple syrup

2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp ground ginger

1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

pinch ground cloves


Method:

Mix spice ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.


Place oats, chia seeds, and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a gentle simmer.


Add milk and half the spice blend and stir constantly for 6-7 minutes until oats have thickened and cooked through. Remove from heat and stir in mashed banana.


Divide between 2 bowls and serve with maple syrup, sliced banana, and a dusting of extra spice mix.
